Drive by "Shooting"

As we were driving in Holland, I decided to take random pics while we were going down the road, don't worry I wasn't driving while doing this LOL. The unique thing with this land is that at one time It was all under water, as this land is under sea level.  What the dutch government did is hire workers to dig a series of ditches and canals to lower the water level and get their land back from the sea.

The Old Church in Westergeest

One place I wanted to see upon visiting Holland was an old Church that's at least 900 years old. I would have loved to gone into that Church but no such luck. But I still took a lot of pictures of the outside of the old Church.

In Honor of the Canadian Soldiers who died on Dutch Soil

One Last Parting Shot

I was very fortunate to have my Camera with me. We were Visiting Family on this cool Sunday evening and I went for a walk through of the village with some family members, and one of the sights was this particular old Church that I wanted to see. That was the only time in my stay in Holland that I got this close to the old Church. Moral of the story: Always be prepared ;-)

The Chapel of St. Boniface- Monuments

When I was at the chapel, We were unable to go in as the chapel was closed to the public but I took several pics non the less. One of the main features at this chapel were several monuments, and each monument was telling a story, the story of Christ's betrayal, trial, death, and resurrection. Here are some pics of the monuments in no particular order.

St. Boniface

The Chapel of St. Boniface

He was A Catholic Priest who came to Dokkum to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, but was killed for doing so. The story is that he would put his Bible over his head for protection against a death blow to the head. Eventually the City felt bad for what they did and converted to Christianity. Now they honor him.

This little pool was once believed to be a pool of healing

I will have some more pics of this chapel at a later date.

I tried to get a better shot, but this is a picture of Saint Boniface on a store window.
